October is stewardship month!
The Parish Historian helps St. Andrew’s remember who we are, where we’ve been, and howThe Parish Historian helps St. Andrew’s remember who we are, where we’ve been, and how we’ve grown. This role is dedicated to researching, documenting, and preserving the evolving story of our congregation — recording not only the milestones and statistics, but also the spirit and character of our life together in community. From significant events to everyday details, the work of the historian ensures that the living memory of St. Andrew’s is passed on with care and context.
This ministry involves gathering and preserving archival materials — documents, photographs, bulletins, publications, and more — that reflect the church’s worship, service, and fellowship across generations. It also includes attention to the artistic and liturgical elements that shape our sacred space and practices, such as architecture, vestments, ceremonial instruments, and other physical expressions of our faith.
The historian may work with assistants and volunteers, and is encouraged to inspire broader awareness of our heritage by lifting up stories that connect our past to our present. This ministry is about more than keeping records — it’s about honoring legacy, cultivating memory, and reminding us that every chapter of St. Andrew’s history is part of God’s unfolding story.
