Welcome to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church

I want to extend greetings to all you who read this web page and to welcome you to Saint Andrew's Episcopal Church in Ayer, Massachusetts. This parish, founded in 1889 and worshipping in the original church structure built in 1892, seeks to be a warm, friendly and Christ-centered congregation. Located in the heart of Ayer, the church was founded with a close tie to the nearby Groton School; at one time the late President Franklin D. Roosevelt was a Sunday School teacher while a student at Groton.

We serve not only the town of Ayer, but also a number of surrounding communities as well. We want to provide a spiritual home to all who are seeking to know the presence of God in their lives and to implement all that means in creating a community where people feel loved and valued. We are a community committed to the person of Jesus Christ and want to do all that we know he directs us to do in our actions toward one another and toward the world outside of our parish.

Therefore, no matter how diverse the background or makeup of any who may read this, we say, “Welcome.” Come and visit us and perhaps decide to stay. Because you are unique, you have something to share with the rest of us.

We are a parish in the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts comprising the Eastern third of the state and thus are also part of the worldwide Anglican Communion, whose center of unity is found in the ministry of the Archbishop of Canterbury. At the same time, we try to work together with other faith communities in the work of justice and other social concerns that affect the lives of all of us.

Again, I say a warm welcome to all of you visiting us first on this web site. May God richly bless you and assist you on your journey of faith.
