St. Andrew's Postcards

Episcopal Church, Ayer, Mass.

"Episcopal Church, Ayer, Mass."

This is the only known "Real Photo" postcard depicting St. Andrew's, which is unfortunate because the detail in this type of postcard is really wonderful. For example, at the left, note the side of the Rectory, with its unpainted shingles and white painted trim. The granite stones of the newly-finished vestible are distintly brighter than the older stones of the church itself. There is a sign mounted on the former front door; the steps are missing. The cornerstone is visible at the base of the bell tower. Note the fire hydrant, which remains in the same spot today.

Real photo, sepia tone; divided back; no postmark or message; printed 1907-1910.
