St. Andrew's Postcards

East Main Street, Ayer, Mass.

"East Main Street, Ayer, Mass."

An early view of Ayer looking East from downtown. We can see at the far left the old railroad crossing, the First Baptist Church, St. Andrew's newly-completed Vicarage (1901), St. Andrew's Church (1892), and the Union House. This image gives us a better understanding of why the Rev. Endicott Peabody selected this building site for St. Andrew's. Before the Main Street overpass was built, St. Andrew's was an easy walk directly across Main Street from the Ayer Town Hall.

Black and white; undivided back; no postmark or message; printed between 1901 and 1907.
