St. Andrew's Postcards

Baptist and Episcopal Churches, Ayer, Mass.

"Baptist and Episcopal Churches, Ayer, Mass."

This early full-color postcard shows the entire block along Tannery Street between Church Street on the left and Forest Street on the right. Note the small stairway between the road and the railroad tracks to allow people to cross over and the recently-installed electric light poles. The door under the tower has an arched glass overdoor panel, but the steps in front are missing.

Look carefully to see the carpenter building the vestibule on the left side of the Church. An early parish history states, "The entrance of the church on the north west corner was closed and a stone porch was erected in the autumn of 1907 on the east side giving a convenient entrance from the driveway."

Color; divided back; postmarked March 1908; includes a message; printed about 1907.
