St. Andrew's Stained Glass Windows
The most visible legacy of the Rev. Martha Giltinan's service to St. Andrew's (1991-2001) is our beautiful stained glass windows. At the time of the 100th anniversary of the dedication of the church building in 1992, the original windows were still in place. They were all of a uniformly soft yellow hue.
Beginning in 1999, Rev. Martha worked with an enthusiastic committee of parish members to plan the design of the new windows and to raise the money to pay for them. The windows were executed by Stained Glass Resources, Inc. in Hampden, Massachusetts, under the art direction of Scott McDaniel. The new windows were installed in the fall of 2000 and the spring of 2001.
The last window installed was the large Feeding the Multitude Window, depicting our Lord Jesus Christ, our patron Saint Andrew, and a young boy carrying loaves and fishes, with the multitude behind them. It was dedicated on May 13, 2001 to the memory of the Rev. Henry Mattocks and his wife Dorothy Latham Mattocks, who served St. Andrew's Episcopal Church from 1948 to 1968.

St. Andrew's Kneelers
For St. Andrew's 100th anniversary in 1992, parishioner Helen Priest designed new kneeling cushions for the altar railing and altar pews, and also a set of cushions for the altar chair used by the rector. The cushions depict the four Evangelists and themes relating to St. Andrew's history and physical surroundings. The needlework was stitched by parishioners Priscilla Andrews, Brenda Bergeson, Ruth Broughton, Nancy Brown, Lee Burton, Rena Gagne, the Rev. Martha Giltinan, Lorraine Mullen, Ginny Neat, Helen Priest, and Kay Terry.

St. Andrew's Postcards
The years 1901-1915 are considered to be the "golden age" of postcards in the United States. For only a penny, one could send a postal message across town or across the country. Fortunately, St. Andrew's Church was a popular postcard subject in Ayer. Using postcards, we can document some of the early changes to our parish property.
