III.             Treasurer’s Report (Sue Hildreth)

A.     We are in the black due to fewer expenses this past month

B.     Pledges came in during the summer to a larger degree than normal during the summer months (possibly due to the envelopes sent by the wardens)

C.     Motion approved to accept Treasurer’s Report as presented

IV.              Welcome Rev. Cynthia Hubbard

A.     Interested in hearing our opinions about Search

1.      Everyone in attendance was given a chance to answer:

a.      What is the best thing for St. Andrew’s regarding Search

b.      What needs to happen in order to be able to enter the Search Process

B.     After listening to the discussion, Rev. Cynthia summarized the following points:

1.      Any parish can afford to do a Search

a.      You must decide if you will look for ¼ time, ½ time or full time

i.                    There are good part-time priests out there

2.      We should not be governed by a timeline

3.      The process could be streamlined by using Affirmative Inquiry to make a 1-page Profile

4.      Members are on board with the process

5.      She believes we are ready to go into Search

6.       Recommends that Fr. Alan stay on as PIR and have the authority of PIR on everything but Search where he would act as an Interim

C.     Motion made and unanimously passed to move into Search, effective immediately, and form a Search Committee

D.    Informational Parish Meeting this Sunday (9/7/08)

1.      Points to be covered by Mark

a.      The Vestry has decided to go into Search, recognizing that Fr. Alan’s tenure here is coming to an end

b.      Father Alan has given June 2010 as his outside date

c.       During that time, he will function as Priest-in-Residence in all matters but Search (where he will function as an Interim)

d.      Keep mindful that Search is really a period of discernment and reflection, prayer and most importantly guidance from the Holy Spirit

e.      Profiles are done differently than those done in the past

i.                    Will be done with Carol Kingston’s help (Search facilitator) through Appreciative Inquiry

f.        Most important thing throughout this process is to Communicate, Communicate, Communicate

E.     Vestry Extended its Thanks to Rev. Cynthia

V.                 Priest-in-Residence Report (shortened due to the time)

A.     Fr. Alan asked if the Vestry would be willing to start a purse for Michael Smith as a going-away gift which could then be added to by parishioners

1.      $50 contribution from each Vestry member was suggested rather than taking money out of church funds

a.      Agreed by members

VI.              Old Business

A.     Concert tickets still available for John Ferrillo’s concert on September 21st

VII.           New Business

A.     Carolyn Smith (& Dick) invited all Vestry members and their significant others to their house this Sunday at 2 PM for a barbeque in Dwight’s honor

1.      Mark wanted to acknowledge Dwight’s service to the Parish (applause)

a.      Mary suggested that be done at the Parish Meeting this Sunday

VIII.        Next Meeting – Sunday, September 14th , 11:45 AM

IX.              Closing Prayer

X.                 Adjourn Meeting – 9:30 PM

Respectfully submitted,

Linda Kaferle
